Sex-Act - Confession

Review by Elek Malcolm-Madill

Genre/s: Blackened Noise, Experimental
For Fans Of: Koufar, Mike IX Williams, Затухание

Self described “blackened post-punk” band Sex-Act are an interesting bit of noise, as this is actually a pretty good description. Best heard as a whole unit rather than six unrelated songs, Sex-Act's six untitled tracks feature black metal's signature guitar aesthetic while also these strange, uncomfortable, almost broody muttering vocals in the background that gives the tracks an interesting, and definitely post-punk like feel. Right from track one Sex-Act essentially throws you into what feels like a chaotic wind tunnel of strange screeching feedback that develops into an oddly serene feeling at times in areas such as track five. I definitely recommend giving Sex-Act a listen if you like harsh noise, black metal, or post punk and have some time to kill.
