The Swill - Thirst for Misery

'Thirst for Misery'
The Swill

(Band Submission)

Review by Elek Malcolm-Madill

Genre/s: Doom/Stoner Metal, Power Metal, Space Rock
For Fans Of: Orange Goblin, Priestess, Dio

It's not often I like neo-classical sounding music in terms of metal, in the sense that I mean there are far too many bands today that just try to copy Sabbathian riffs and try to present it as something new. However Lansing, Michigan act “The Swill” has perfectly captured the essence of classic stoner/hard rock acts such as Rainbow and Saxon while still managing to bring a sense of modernity to the table. The Swill sounds somewhat like the bastard child of Hawkwind and Queen, with crisp and clean guitars shelling out melodic riffs that are accompanied by excellent, almost Dio-esque, vocals. The Swill are definitely worth your time if space rock and power metal are your thing.

1. You Are Alone
2. Demons and Rust
3. Deeper Dungeons
4. Analysis Paralysis
5. The Void and the Vision
