Soupcans - Parasite Brain

'Parasite Brain'

Review by Elek Malcolm-Madill

Genre/s: Garage Punk, Noise Punk
For Fans Of: The Cramps, Swans, No Trend

Cronenberg Punk, Avante Garbagé, and Psychedelic Trash are just a few of the terms that Toronto band Soupcans use to classify their sound. With an atmosphere of what feels like a strange mix between chaotic noise, and lo-fi garage punk, Soupcans do a great job of bringing their own unique style to their music while also managing to not take themselves too seriously as you can see from their own labels. They feel sort of like the bastard children of The Cramps, again with the somewhat not-too-serious feeling, and Swans because of their sometimes ear splitting amounts of feedback and bizarre instrumentation- Soupcans are definitely a band to keep an eye on.

1. Parasite Brain
2. Crimes of the Future, pt. II
3. 2 Much
