Skumlord - Die Galle

'Die Galle'
Skumlord
2012

(Band Submission)

Review by Elek Malcolm-Madill

Genre/s: Raw Black Metal, Atmospheric Black Metal
For Fans Of: Nyogthaeblisz, Satanic Warmaster, Horna

Salt Lake City, Utah band Skumlord play (as described by the band themselves) raw and fetid black metal and it most certainly lives up to its name while being some extremely tasty shit at the same time. Moving between short strangled vocals and drawn out, distorted belches that reminded me a lot of G.I.S.M, Skumlord pulls you in and out of abysmal and depressive periods of slow atmospheric black metal and into blisteringly fast, but oh-so good, extremely raw black metal in the style of Nyogthaeblisz (but without the, y'know- neo-nazism). Skumlord does a good job of keeping things interesting and well...non-boring in simpler terms seeing as most raw black metal songs last a minute if you're lucky, whereas Skumlord's songs last roughly ten minutes each. Skumlord also just posted the pre-order link for their newest release- a split with Excrementum Luciferi which any fans of Die Galle should get on below at their bandcamp.

TRACKLISTING:
1. I. A Drop of Gall
2. II. The Sphincter of Oddi
3. III. Ampulla of Vater
4. IV. Vile Temptress (...On Wings of Ice)
