Revenge - Discography (So Far)

'Discography (So Far)'
Revenge
2001-2012

Review by Elek Malcolm-Madill

Genre/s: Blackened Death Metal, Raw Black Metal
For Fans Of: Blasphemy, Teitanblood, Goatpenis, Sect Pig, Black Witchery, Portal, Nyogthaeblisz
Favourte Albums: Infiltration.Downfall.Death, Triumph.Genocide.Antichrist

Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Revenge are pretty old news in the global black metal scene, however they're still damn good and I felt like posting their discography in case anyone was looking for an album or two and couldn't otherwise find them. Sounding like a deranged split between Teitanblood and Blasphemy, and fueled by themes of nightmarish, apocalypse-inducing warfare, Revenge are an insane force of power bordering on grindcore at times. Saying that Revenge is an amalgamation of various bands and their styles, however, is kind of negative and positive aspect to viewing them, as yeah Revenge does also comparably sound like a cracked out, lo-fi version of Gorgoroth, but they also progress on the styles that they've obviously been influenced by greatly- adding the whole creepy.period.thing to each of their releases also gives them that bit of personal flair setting them aside aesthetically from these other bands is also worth mentioning. There really is no one good place to start here, pretty much all their releases are fantastic but for the sake of objectivity I'll say that Infiltration.Downfall.Death and Triumph.Genocide.Antichrist are the best in my opinion. If you're looking for something straight-up raw then I recommend Infiltration, but if you're more interested in seeing how the band can play with riffs and other instrumentation more thoughtfully then Triumph is likely the better choice for you- regardless though, enjoy.
