'Zero Discrimination'
Constrictions
2010
Review by Brayden Bagnall
Genre/s: Power Electronics, Harsh Noise
For Fans Of: Deathpile, Sutcliffe Jugend, Koufar, Breathing Problem
Chicago, as we all know, has been doing some really cool things as of late in the noisy/fucked up/harsh side of music. The epicenter of most of these bands and projects would probably have to be the Diseased Audio label, who've been going at it since 2010. One of their earlier releases (np. 2 in fact) was this nasty piece of work from Constrictions.
Constrictions was a three piece power electronics group, consisting of members of Rectal Hygienics, Sea Of Shit, Consent and Socially Retarded. They only released two tapes, one comp track and played 3 shows before moving onto other things, but goddamn what they did do is VERY worth listening too.
Essentially you're about to be subjected to about ten minutes of harsh, crumbling electronics and a dual vocal attack, trading off in rapid fire, cut up succession. Each one of the tracks on Zero Discrimination sits around, so they're just jammed full of noisy, aggressive violence in extremely concise bursts - there's really no time for any of the tracks to become stale or boring.
If you're itching to get your crumbly, static-y power electronics fix, I suggest visiting either of the links below and snagging yourself a copy of this bad boy.
