Dark, dark hardcore from Sydney, Australia. Odd time signatures and dirge-y passages are the modus operandi for Jackals - a combination that lends itself to a potent brew of agression and misery. It's not all doom and gloom though, the tempo picking up on tracks such as 'Dancing To The Pulse' and 'God Is In The Numbers', and while the songs may be easier to mosh to, the overwhelming sense of negativity and nihilism remains. Like so many others out there, I was was saddened by the news of Gaza's break-up, but with bands like Jackals here carrying the torch for cathartic, depressing sludgy-metalcore, I feel much better.
