Warpath - Fuck You! I'm Queer: The Discography

'Fuck You! I'm Queer: The Discography'
Warpath
92 - 96

(Band Submission)

Review By Brayden Bagnall

Genre/s: Crust Punk, Hardcore, Queercore
For Fans Of: Aus -Rotten, Heresy, Doom, Napalm Death, Nausea

Warpath were a band from Pittsburgh, Pennyslvania who created highly political, socially conscious punk music between 1992 and 1996. While Warpath's music does share similarities with other crust punk bands (i.e Nausea and Aus-Rotten), Warpath's sound also borrowed heavily from the likes of grindcore, with growled and screamed vocals (both male and female), breakneck speeds and unbridled intensity. As per the title of this discography, Warpath did indeed champion queer rights in their music, as well as animal rights, peace, anti-Capitalism and Anarchism.
This discography covers the band's entire studio recorded output, including several unreleased tracks and three covers - including 'Bloodstains' by Agent Orange (which is actually the coolest song ever). Pop on over to the Reality Is A Cult bandcamp and buy the record - or download it below!

Deviänce Pörcine - Demo

'Demo'
Deviänce Pörcine
2013

(Band Submission)

Review by Brayden Bagnall

Genre/s: Crust Punk, Hardcore
For Fans Of: Discharge, Doom, Disrupt, Avskum

Filthy, filthy punk from France. Deviänce Pörcine are a five piece crusty hardcore band with not one, but two female vocalists delivering a raw, noisy assault via buzzsaw guitars and throat shredding screams. While Deviänce Pörcine's music is firmly brooted in the punk genre, their are some definite nods to metal - mostly doom and old school black metal - which adds some extra grunt to the gritty,  brawny sound of the demo. This one will appeal to almost anyone with an appreciation for the nastier side of punk and metal, so quit sewing those patches on to your manky jeans and check out Deviänce Pörcine's bandcamp where this demo is available as a pay-what-you want download. Gnarly.

Boris - Vein (Both Versions)

'Vein'
Boris
2006

Genre: Hardcore, Noise, Noise punk, Drone, Crust, Doom metal
For Fans Of: Confuse, Gauze, Earth, Incapacitants, Macronympha, Sunn O))), D Clone

I love Boris. I really do. They've explored so many different genres in their 21 year old career - whether it be doom metal or J-Rock. Their constant evolution and disregard for typical music is a massive inspiration to me, and this album is an excellent example of their ability to explore new genres. Vein is probably Boris's most noisiest, abrasive release to date and is a homage to their various hardcore and crust influences. Released in two different versions, Vein explored the realm of drone metal, noise, hardcore and crust punk. The drone version features two lengthy tracks, devoid of vocals, drenched in an ungodly amount of feedback and noise. Vein's Hardcore version however features short, noise-punk tracks with harsh, screamed vocals courtesy of drummer Atsuo. All in all, this is a very different kind of release from Boris, not surprising given their highly unconventional approach to releasing and creating music. Vein  is a raw, ugly beast of an album and both versions are well worth your time.
